Drinking
Extract taken from P.29 of All Bells and No Whistle ©2007
Be prepared to get a frothy top lip with beer and a red one with red wine and have a tissue handy at all times.
Rather than what you drink, what you drink from and how you drink it are more important.
Always choose a glass with a WIDE RIM. This might sound odd as your mouth opening is only half its normal size, but it works, I promise you.
A narrow rimmed glass is useless and you will dribble the drink everywhere. This is bad enough with tea and beer, but red wine is terrible when you are out because there is no hiding the stain from your clothes.
I was also seen in a pub in Cornwall, England, drinking Guinness with a straw. As ridiculous as this sounds, once I had jokingly explained my request to the barman, nobody at all gave me a second glance.......
Revisiting your doctor
Extract taken from P.31 of All Bells and No Whistle ©2007
It is a common reaction to something as scary and stressful as this that the information you give may be only half of the truth for fear of being diagnosed with something else.
If you tell the whole truth then you can trust in the professional doctor diagnosing you correctly. If you are still worried at any time about your condition, or if any new symptoms develop, then always go back to your doctor and explain your concerns. It may be something that is totally unrelated and easy to cure.
They will understand that this is a very stressful experience and should be only too patient to listen and to try to calm your fears.......
Twitching and hints of movement
Extract taken from P.44 of All Bells and No Whistle ©2007
This is where it gets exciting. I never for one moment would have believed the absolute elation that I enjoyed with my wife, literally jumping up and down on the landing, at the sight of my first twitch of hope.
It really is a fantastic feeling and one to be treasured. Hopefully the twitch, or hint of movement you see, will continue and grow strong, but DO NOT BE DEVASTATED if the next time you try to move it in exactly the same way, it does not work.
I was devastated the first few times and then I realised that all of these initial twitchings and hints at movements would always result in that muscle moving sustainably later on, sometimes within a matter of days, and in a much stronger way than the initial twitch or movement had shown.......
My Own Experience
Extract taken from the end of this chapter on P.93 of All Bells and No Whistle ©2007
Without doubt, always keep and bolster a truly positive attitude and, if you haven't already approached your Creator on the subject, then I would suggest that now would be a good time.
Take good care of yourself, this is an opportunity, one that certainly in my case and maybe in yours, is much needed, to spend some time with, and to be good to, YOU.
There will be plenty of time when you are well to get back into all of the things that occupied your time, but hopefully, you will do them in a better way, using this experience as a positive change for your future.
I wish you a speedy and complete recovery.......
